My Dad, future electric bike rider
The electric bike was something I knew nothing about only a few months ago. A visit to the doctor, however, changed all that.
Being in my early 50s, a father of three and grandfather of four being told that years of neglect of my body has resulted in my becoming diabetic changed my life dramatically. I knew I had to do something but I was not sure what to do.
As I researched options to start an exercise program the thought of buying a bicycle came to mind. I joked to my wife that I would buy a motorized bike, however, as with most jokes there was some truth behind it.
I was concerned that I would not be able to just start riding a bike and may need some help. I stumbled on a website that offered an ebike, which was a brand of electric bike, though I did not know it at the time.
I started to become fascinated with the electric bike and the possibilities it held for me. I could start to imagine using my electric bike to start getting in shape and building up more stamina as I could be assured that the motorized bike could help me do it.
I began to picture using my electric bike more than my car to get around town – and knew right away that an electric bike would cost less, be more efficient and faster since I live in the gridlock capital of the world.
Very soon my fascination with the electric bike became an obsession. I started to research more and more about the motorized bike and all that it could do for me. I considered buying an electric bike motor to change an existing bike I had into an electric bike.
I was surprised how much information existed on the electric bike, however, I was equally surprised to find out that to digest it all would take more time than I had. But, as with everything in my life, my family was the incentive I need.
I devoted countless hours to researching electric bikes and finding out as much information as I could on the electric bike. I settled on a Birdy BionX folding bike – that’s right a folding bike that was also an electric bike! I knew it was perfect for me because I could fold it up, put it in my trunk and visit my grandkids with it.
After my wife made the simplest comment about how quickly I could have scrapped the entire idea of buying an electric bike because I was overwhelmed with the time it was taking to do the research I decided to take the information I learned and create a website that synthesized all of the information I found on the electric bike.
Whether you call it an electric bike, a motorized bike, an ebike or anything else, the electric bike is a great investment for many reasons.
I can rest assured in the knowledge that I have not put every tidbit of information on the electric bike on this website, because I know I synthesized the most important information to help anyone who wanted to buy an electric bike but was not sure how.
I plan to stay on top of all the information on electric bikes that comes out and update this site as need be. I do hope this information on the electric bike is as helpful to you as riding your electric bike will be.
